相對位置：New Zealand is a country in the south-western Pacific Ocean comprising two large islands (the North Island and the South Island) and numerous smaller islands, most notably Stewart Island/Rakiura and the Chatham Islands. In Māori, New Zealand has come to be known as Aotearoa, which is usually translated into English as The Land of the Long White Cloud. The Realm of New Zealand also includes the Cook Islands and Niue, which are self-governing but in free association; Tokelau; and the Ross Dependency (New Zealand's territorial claim in Antarctica).

奧克蘭不單是紐西蘭第一大都會，更是全國工商業樞紐。她港灣優美，海水清澈。海港大橋連貫兩個港灣。大橋、港灣和沉睡的Rangitoto火山，構成一幅壯觀的自然風景畫。城中內外的市民熱愛揚帆出海，平均擁有的船隻數量是全球之冠。故奧克蘭有「帆船之都」之美譽。每年一月份的帆船競賽，千帆並舉，為城中掀起一陣熱潮。
